Fire Services Tax Measure Passes by Wide Margin
La Habra Heights voters have overwhelmingly approved a special property tax to pay for the city’s fire services.
According to preliminary results of Tuesday’s election, the tax passed by a vote of 889--or 82.5%--in favor to 189--or 17.5%--against. The measure needed a two-thirds majority or better to pass.
The election, required after last year’s approval of the Proposition 218 tax initiative, asked voters whether the city should continue charging property owners $350 per parcel annually to maintain the city Fire Department.
