Men Fight Over Candy; 1 Arrested
FREMONT, Calif. — A 30-year-old man was in custody Friday after allegedly hitting his brother with a baseball bat during an argument over two candy bars, police said.
Robert Mitchell was arrested Thursday on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and vandalism, and on an outstanding warrant on weapons charges, said Dennis Madsen, a Fremont police detective.
Mitchell’s 32-year-old brother, Michael, told police that an argument erupted when he discovered that his younger brother had eaten his two Charleston Chew candy bars that had been in the refrigerator.
During the argument, Michael said, Robert hit him in the forearm with an aluminum baseball bat and also struck Michael’s truck.
