Five days of ceremonies marking the one-year anniversary of the TWA Flight 800 explosion ended with the unveiling of a memorial to victims at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City. Three bronze panels with the 230 victims’ names are on a stone wall above a quote from Psalm 139: “If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uppermost parts of the sea; even there shall Thy hand lead me and Thy right hand shall hold me.” The memorial, 4 feet by 4 feet, is beneath a stained-glass window memorializing the sinking of the Titanic. Flight 800 exploded over the waters off Long Island on July 17, 1996, after leaving for Paris from John F. Kennedy International Airport.
