Mother Surrenders; Left Child in Hot Car
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
A mother who left her 5-month-old son strapped in a sweltering car while she watched “Beavis and Butthead Do America” in her house turned herself in on a child neglect charge. Prosecutors say Pamela LeBlanc’s son, Michael, was left severely brain damaged from temperatures estimated to have reached 120 degrees in the car. LeBlanc, 35, told investigators she watched the 90-minute cartoon, made phone calls and washed dishes before she realized she had left her son. If convicted, she could face up to 15 years in prison.
