El Dorado Cashes In Campbell’s Returns

El Dorado’s Aaron Campbell quit football for two years.

“I regret I didn’t play my sophomore and junior years,” Campbell said.

Not as much as Katella regrets having to watch Campbell return two punts that led to scores in the Golden Hawks’ 25-6 victory in an Empire League game Friday at Glover Stadium.

Campbell’s first return, a 35-yarder late in the first quarter, led to El Dorado’s first touchdown, setting the Hawks up at their 43-yard line. Brandon Fischer eventually scored on a one-yard run three seconds into the second quarter.

The next time Campbell got his hands on a punt he returned it 44 yards to Katella’s 25-yard line.

Fischer scored on the next play, a 25-yard touchdown pass from Mitch Nord.

El Dorado (7-1, 3-0) increased its lead to 22-0 with 1 minutes 27 seconds left in the first half when Steve Warfield caught a 19-yard touchdown pass from Nord.

Warfield gained 71 yards in 10 carries. Fischer had 10 carries for 38 yards and caught three passes for 54 yards.

Mark Wade had a 29-yard field goal for El Dorado with 1:43 left in the third quarter.

Katella’s only touchdown was a 15-yard pass from Steve Gomez to Art Tiscareno. Francis Johnson had 70 yards in 23 carries for the Knights (4-4, 1-2).
