The Stuff
If you cringe when you hear the word “crafts”--who can forget those loving-hands-at-home macrame plant holders, crocheted tissue covers and misshapen mugs of the ‘60s?--well, think again.
Think exquisite silk kimonos, handblown glass bowls and vases and one-of-a-kind ceramic teapots, all to be exhibited at the semi-annual Contemporary Crafts Market from Friday through Nov. 9 at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium.
More than 200 artists from throughout the United States--jewelry makers, photographers, fiber artists, basket weavers, potters, doll makers and woodworkers--will be showing, and selling, their handmade creations.
Think tomorrow’s antiques.
Show hours are 2 to 8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Ticket information: (310) 285-3655.
