Teaching Math
I was delighted to read in “The Math Media” Oct. 27 that Sid Kolpas of Glendale Community College has been able to interest students in learning math through innovative methods.
Just to set the record straight, it was the American Assn. of University Women that blew the whistle on Mattel’s folly, Teen Talk Barbie, for saying “Math class is tough!” Our report, “How Schools Shortchange Girls,” documents how the negative messages girls receive in school result in their receiving less of an education.
