Mexico’s government plans to invest $3.5 billion to upgrade, maintain and expand the state-owned highway system in the next three years. Nearly half the money will be invested in 10 highways that connect major cities, ports and border towns. Mexico plans to upgrade 1,506 miles that are part of its network of main highways, including the links between Mexico City-Nogales, Mexico City-Nuevo Laredo, Queretaro-Ciudad Juarez and Acapulco-Veracruz. The government also plans to build several new roads, the Communications and Transportation Ministry said.
