SEASON AT A GLANCE: Herman, who finished fourth in the 1996 state Division IV cross-country championships, was the No.2 runner for highly regarded Nordhoff during the first half of the season, but he won the Division IV sweepstakes race of the Mt. San Antonio College invitational on Oct. 24 and the Ventura County championships on Friday.
Week at a Glance: Herman clocked 15:29 over the three-mile course at Lake Casitas in Ojai to win his second consecutive county title, move to sixth on the all-time course performer list and lead Nordhoff to its second title in three years. The victory also made him the first boy to repeat as county champion since 1990-91 when Jeff Wilson of Newbury Park won consecutivetitles.

SEASON AT A GLANCE: Despite being slowed by an elbow injury that forced her to serve underhanded the first two-thirds of the season, Munroe has emerged as the best freshman in the region. She has a 43-2 record in sets this season playing No.1 singles for the Indians.
Week at a Glance: Munroe avenged one of her two individual losses and helped Hart clinch the Foothill League title with a 10-8 victory over Burroughs. Munore defeated Shaland Romero, 7-6 (7-4), after losing , 6-1, in the first meeting. Those were the only six games she lost all week as she defeated her other two Burroughs opponents by 6-0 scores and had three perfect sets in a 16-2 victory over Saugus.
