EMI Replaces Capitol Nashville Label’s Chief

EMI Music reorganized its Capitol Records’ Nashville music division on Tuesday, replacing label chief Scott Hendricks with Pat Quigley, former general manager at the label and senior vice president of marketing for EMI-Capitol North America. The shake-up is believed to have helped resolve a dispute between Hendricks and Capitol Nashville’s biggest star, Garth Brooks, who had refused for months to turn over the master recording of his long-awaited album, “Sevens,” sources said. Three days ago, Brooks, who has sold more than 60 million albums for Capitol, told fans at a concert in Sioux Falls, S.D., that he had finally reached an agreement with EMI to release his album before December. On Tuesday, EMI announced Hendricks’ exit, saying he is expected to resurface at the corporation’s new Virgin Records Nashville unit.
