City Hatches Battened in Case of Heavy Rain
The city is joining with the Orange County Fire Authority and other county agencies to help residents prepare for the heavy rains expected this winter.
Public works officials said that damage to the Fullerton Creek Channel, which caused a major sinkhole in 1995, has been repaired. The Brea Creek Channel has been widened, storm drains have been cleared and emergency equipment such as barricades and warning signs are ready.
The city also is prepared to help residents and businesses help themselves, officials said.
Free sandbags will be available once the rains begin at Fire Authority stations at 8081 Western Ave., 7780 Artesia Blvd. and 9120 Holder St.; and the public works yard at 8071 Page St.
For other information on how to cope with the storms, residents may contact the city manager’s office at (714) 562-3550.
