City Seeks Public Input on Community Pool Plan

The Santa Monica Department of Community and Cultural Services will host a meeting tonight from 7 to 9 to solicit public comment on a planned $3.9-million municipal pool.

A 50-meter Olympic pool would replace the existing 33-meter municipal pool at Santa Monica College. The new pool would be located at the current site or at a more publicly accessible location near 16th Street and Pico Boulevard, project manager Brett Horner said.

Construction, which is slated to start next summer, is expected to take 40 weeks. It would be funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the city of Santa Monica and the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development.
