Man Pursued and Wounded by Gunman
STANTON — A 19-year-old Stanton man was wounded numerous times Sunday by a gunman who chased him down Cerritos Avenue, then hopped into a waiting car and sped off, Sheriff’s Department officials said.
A witness told deputies the assailant had a mustache and wore a black hooded sweatshirt and tan pants. He was described as Latino and about 18 years old, Sheriff’s Lt. Orville King said.
The witness saw the suspect enter a dark-colored four-door Camry right after the 6:30 p.m. shooting on Cerritos near College Drive, officials said.
“She heard two or three shots and saw the victim fall, then saw the suspect fire a few more rounds at the victim,” King said.
The victim, whose name was not released, was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he was undergoing surgery for multiple gunshot wounds Sunday night, King said.
“It appears he will make it,” he said.
