Competition Will Honor Best Holiday Displays
Reviving a city-sponsored tradition, the Cultural Arts Commission is holding a Holiday Decorating Contest.
The contest is designed for outdoor home or yard displays that can be enjoyed by the entire community, said Patty Bailey, recreation services manager.
“The city has not had the contest for about three years,” Bailey said. “But the City Council reinstated it this year.”
The seven-member Cultural Arts Commission will judge the displays during the evening hours of the week of Dec. 15. The commission will select about a dozen of the best homes and a “Best of Show,” which will be recognized by the City Council at its first January meeting.
The contest is free. Applications, available at all city offices, must be returned by Dec. 1. Information: (714) 229-6780.
