Rep. McHale Announces He’ll Relinquish Seat
WASHINGTON — Rep. Paul McHale (D-Pa.), long bothered by having to raise money for campaigns, said Wednesday that he will not run for a fourth term next year.
He joins eight Democrats and seven Republicans in the House who have decided to retire or seek other offices after next year.
McHale, 47, cited a desire to spend more time with his family. He said he made up his mind after his 7-year-old son, Luke, complained: “You’ve been gone my whole life.”
“When a child says that to you, it’s your duty to take a step back and listen to what he’s saying,” McHale said from his home in Bethlehem, Pa.
