Quality Systems Inc.: The Tustin developer and provider of computer-based management systems for medical and dental group practices reported that net income for the second fiscal quarter ended Sept. 30 rose to $349,000, or 6 cents a share, from $152,000, or 3 cents a share, a year ago. Sales increased 63% to $7.5 million from $4.6 million. For the six months, the company incurred a net loss of $2.4 million, or 40 cents a share, compared with a net loss of $7.6 million, or $1.29 a share, for the first half last year. Revenue gained 58% to $14.7 million from $9.3 million.
During the recent six months, the company recorded a $4.7-million charge relating to research and development purchased in the acquisition of MicroMed Healthcare Information Systems Inc. During the six months ended Sept. 30, 1996, the company took a similar $8.3-million charge related to its acquisition of Clinitec International Inc.
