Man Accused of 31 Auto Burglaries in 24-Hour Span
Long Beach police officers say 31 auto burglaries in a 24-hour period by one person may be a record.
Michael McFarland, 37, a transient, is believed to be responsible for breaking into and burglarizing 31 recreational vehicles in an RV storage lot in the 4100 block of Cherry Avenue, said police spokeswoman Karen Kerr Owen.
Long Beach Officer Brad Eggum and his K-9 partner “Cliff” responded to the call from the RV manager on Wednesday at 8:34 a.m. The dog picked up the suspect’s scent, and McFarland was found in one of the RVs with a small amount of methamphetamine in his possession, said Owen.
McFarland was arrested and is being held on $15,500 bail, Owen said.
