Ambulance Service Bids Taken by City
For the first time in city history, the Fire Department is accepting proposals from ambulance companies to provide emergency transportation service.
For more than 30 years, the city has had an informal service agreement with a private ambulance company, most recently American Medical Response.
City officials are required to seek competitive bids when negotiating such a contract.
The contract could result in increased revenue to the city, officials said. American Medical Response is expected to be among the competing companies.
“The biggest reason behind all this is so we can develop a new system that will better serve the patients, their doctors and their medical plans,” Fire Capt. Wayne Chamberlain said.
Information on submitting a proposal is available at City Hall West, Fire Administration Office, 201 S. Anaheim Blvd., or by calling Chamberlain at (714) 765-4064.
