Accelerated Health Science Degree Offered
With the recent launch of its health sciences accelerated degree program, Mission College hopes working adults will find it easier to start on a new career.
The health sciences curriculum will be added to the community college’s Program for Accelerated College Education (PACE), a course of study that allows adults to earn an associate’s degree at night in two nine-week semesters instead of the traditional two to three years.
“We instituted the health sciences option because we have many students interested in health-related career paths,” said Gina La Monica, PACE director.
The health sciences program is for students interested in becoming nurses, physical therapists, dental hygienists, dietitians, radiology technicians, dentists, chiropractors and medical doctors, La Monica said.
Students enrolled in the PACE health sciences program attend two courses one night a week.
They also participate in sessions on Saturdays during both nine-week semesters.
PACE also offers associate degree programs in business, the humanities, teaching and general studies.
An orientation for PACE’s spring semester will be held Jan. 10 in the college’s Campus Center at 13356 Eldridge Ave. For information, call the PACE office at (818) 364-7684.
