After Hammering Huskies, Bruins Now Need Their Help
The bowl blazers were around Saturday, representatives of the Cotton, Sun, Holiday and Fiesta showing up, armed with smiles and few answers.
The easy equation is this:
After beating Washington, 52-28, on Saturday, UCLA goes to the Rose Bowl if it beats USC next week in the Coliseum and Washington beats Washington State in Seattle.
It’s harder to figure if UCLA loses to the Trojans, or if Washington State beats Washington, but the best guess seems to put the Bruins in the Cotton Bowl, probably playing Kansas State, which figures to finish second in the Big 12 with a 10-1 record, though Texas A&M; is a possibility.
Washington State wins a two-way Rose Bowl tie with the Bruins because of a 37-34 victory back on Aug. 30. A two-way tie between Washington State and Arizona State goes to Arizona State because of a 44-31 win on Nov. 1.
A three-way tie between Washington State, Arizona State and UCLA goes to Washington State.

Cade McNown’s seven-yard completion to Jim McElroy in the second quarter was his 442nd, one more than Tom Ramsey threw in his career at UCLA.
