Moviegoers Track ‘The Jackal’
Universal Pictures, which hadn’t released a movie since “Kull the Conquerer” on Aug. 29, scored a hit over the weekend with its latest release, “The Jackal.” The action film, starring Bruce Willis and Richard Gere, took in $15.2 million. Coming in second was TriStar Pictures’ “Starship Troopers,” followed closely by Disney’s reissue of its 1989 animated fantasy, “The Little Mermaid.” “Anastasia” opened at the Ziegfeld Theater in New York City, taking in $120,541. The 20th Century Fox animated film will go wide next weekend.
