Students to Set Pace for PTA Fund-Raiser
Parents are hoping their young runners will reap $20,000 Friday for the Westlake Hills Elementary School PTA. The children have spent the last few weeks soliciting pledges for each lap they run around the school’s track.
Debbie Erickson said the annual jog-a-thon raises funds for books, maps, globes and computer gear.
“My daughter convinced us to sponsor her, $3 a lap,” Erickson said.
Earlier this year, the PTA raised $20,000 with a membership drive and another $20,000 with a gift-wrap fund-raiser. Erickson said it is also considering a dinner dance and silent auction for later in the year.
