The Youth Task Force will report tonight on the status of activities for kids in Westlake Village.

The 15-member group, appointed in June by Mayor Doug Yarrow, has taken an inventory of city-sponsored youth programs and evaluated gaps in programming and facilities.

At the 7 p.m. meeting in City Council chambers, the task force will present its findings, pinpoint areas that are lacking or need expanding and recommend possible additions to the city’s program, according to Councilwoman Betty DeSantis, who chairs the task force.

“It seems to me from the inventory that we have taken that we’re lacking in some of the entertainment areas,” DeSantis said. “After evaluating our strengths and weaknesses, we have music, sports and volunteer activities covered very well, but we’re lacking in activities to keep the kids safely entertained.”

DeSantis said that local youth expressed an interest in a park for skateboarding and roller-blading and a miniature golf facility.
