Computer Overhaul Expected to Get OK

After years of scavenging parts from outdated computers bought in the 1980s, the city is proposing a leap into the 21st century by spending up to $410,000 to overhaul its computer network system.

“We have about 150 computers,” said Larry Moore, information systems manager. “We’re not replacing every single box, just the main software, infrastructure and networking.”

City Council members are expected to approve a contract tonight with Washington-based Eden Systems Inc.
