Warmer Weather, Clear Skies on Way
A drizzle that dampened Ventura County on Wednesday will give way to mostly clear skies today, and forecasters say to expect clear skies and a high of 80 by Friday.
The wetness was from the tail end of a cold front that dumped rain in Northern California over the last several days before making its way south, said Bruce Rockwell, forecast meteorologist for the National Weather Service.
“Oxnard was the only area with trace amounts of rain, but nothing measurable,” he said.
Residents in the rest of the county got little more than a reminder to replace those old windshield wipers before the real rains begin.
“Most of the rain bled out as it came through the area,” Rockwell said.
Roads got wet, but law enforcement officials reported only a smattering of accidents that may have been caused by the weather.
High temperatures Wednesday ranged from 67 in Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley and Ojai to 70 in Oxnard. Point Mugu had a high of 68, while Ventura’s high was 66.
Ojai was also one of the coolest spots in the county, with a low of 45. Simi Valley and Thousands Oaks both had a low of 48, while the low in both Oxnard and Point Mugu was 50. Ventura’s low was 52.
Today’s forecast calls for mostly clear skies, with winds out of the northeast to 20 mph. Temperatures across Ventura County are expected to range from lows in the 40s to highs in the 70s.
The winds will continue Friday, when the temperature is expected to reach 80 degrees, Rockwell said.
A chance of rain does not show up in the forecast until Sunday, when lows are expected to be in the 40s and 50s and highs in the 60s and 70s.
