Police Officer OKd for Campus Patrol Next Year
Buena Park High School will continue to have a uniformed police officer patrol its grounds on a full-time basis next year.
City Council members this week unanimously approved a contract renewal with the Fullerton Joint Union High School District, which reimburses the cost of the officer up to $48,700 per year. The district’s trustees approved the deal last month.
This will be the fifth year in a row the city and the high school have paid the officer, known as a school resource officer, to work on campus.
Besides watching for illegal activities, the officer works with administrators to supervise after-school activities, discuss juvenile crime and law enforcement to classes and keep outsiders off campus, according to the contract.
