Noel Gallagher, who guests on the song “Temper Temper” on Goldie’s upcoming album “Saturnz Return,” due Jan. 27, also appears in the video. The Oasis leader is seen getting attacked by a chain saw-wielding Goldie while he plays guitar in an alley. . . .
While in L.A. recently to do business related to his Jonathan Demme-directed performance film “Storefront Hitchcock,” Robyn Hitchcock teamed with producer Jon Brion (who did Fiona Apple’s debut) to record six songs for a new album. The two will finish the project when their schedules align in the new year. Grant Lee Buffalo’s Grant Lee Phillips provided some guest vocals, and Hitchcock returned the favor by guesting on sessions for that band’s upcoming album. . . .
Grateful Dead Records, which has issued a series of live Dead albums, is going outside its immediate family to release “Another Stoney Evening” from a 1970 concert by David Crosby and Graham Nash at Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. It’s available by mail and Internet order now and will be in stores Jan. 13. Also out for mail order is the Dead’s “Dick’s Picks Vol. 9” from a Sept. 16, 1990, concert featuring both Bruce Hornsby and Vince Welnick on keyboards. This is the first official Dead album with Welnick, who joined the band after Brent Mydland’s 1990 drug death. . . .
Chrissie Hynde is doing the groundwork on a new Pretenders album in England and talking to producers about coming on board to finish the project. No release date has been set.
