Barry Sits Out the Loss to Jazz
Guard Brent Barry, the Clippers’ leading scorer, missed Saturday night’s 94-91 loss to the Utah Jazz because of a bruised left calf muscle.
Barry, averaging a career-best 16.1 points, was injured when he was kicked by Kerry Kittles with 2:38 remaining in Friday night’s 104-92 loss to the New Jersey Nets.
Barry received treatment before the game from trainer Ray Melchiorre and hopes to return for Thursday night’s game against the San Antonio Spurs.
“I had an injury like this in college, and the pain was the same,” Barry said. “Hopefully I won’t be out too long.”

Free agent guard James Robinson, signed to a five-year, $10.5-million contract, hasn’t been able to get out of Coach Bill Fitch’s doghouse.
Robinson, who averaged 8.3 points, 1.3 assists and 19 minutes with the Minnesota Timberwolves last season, has averaged 5.1 points, 2.1 assists and 14.4 minutes this season.
“It’s going to take me a little while to get used to the system,” Robinson said. “I thought I was used to the system and try to be like the player I am, but I’m not.”

Forward Loy Vaught, who missed his fifth consecutive game because of back spasms, will get a second opinion from a specialist next week.
Vaught, who could be sidelined for the season, was advised to have his medication changed by back specialist Ted Goldstein last week.
Vaught, who averaged a team-best 14.9 points and 10 rebounds last season, averaged 7.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in 10 games this season.
“He’s getting a lot of rest, which is good,” Fitch said.
