Sunjet International begins its expansion at Long Beach airport today by offering free flights for passengers traveling to Las Vegas and Seattle. After today the tickets will cost $49 and $79, respectively.
“I assume the planes will be full at that price,” said airport manager Chris Kunze.
An airline service company that contracts with airlines, Sunjet offers flights to Dallas and plans to add flights to Newark, N.J., and Houston in November. Kunze said the new flights to Las Vegas and Seattle boost total flights at the airport to 18 a day.
The city’s settlement of a noise lawsuit in 1995 capped the number of flights from the airport at 41.
“Our flights are full,” said Sunjet official Cary Evans. “We may be delayed, but we will fly.”
