Baylor: Team Looks Better

General Manager Elgin Baylor thinks the Clippers, who earned their first playoff berth in four years last season, look better than they did last season.
“It looks like we’re far ahead of last year as far as conditioning,” Baylor said as training camp opened Friday at the Jewish Community Center in La Jolla.
“We want to build on last year and get to the next level. Whatever it takes to get to the playoffs, that’s our goal.”

Guard James Robinson, who signed a $10-million, five-year contract with the Clippers, missed the last five minutes of Friday night’s practice because of a sore right foot.
Robinson, who iced the foot, is expected to practice today.

Clipper guard Brent Barry had a busy summer.
Barry, who went into the opening of training camp as the starting shooting guard, got engaged just before camp opened.
“I told my fiancee to just let me know when the wedding is and I’ll show up,” Barry said. “I have other things to worry about. I want to concentrate on the season.”
