Man Killed in Drive-By Shooting
SAN FERNANDO — An 18-year-old man was killed and another man wounded Saturday night in a drive-by shooting.
The two victims were standing at Coronel and Kalisher streets with two others at 6:56 p.m. when a gunman fired on them from the passenger side of a burgundy sedan, said Lt. Dan Peavy of the San Fernando Police Department.
The attackers fled northbound on Coronel Street, police said.
At least one bullet struck the 18-year-old in the head, killing him, Peavy said.
Another man, described as being in his 20s, was shot in the leg and taken to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills where he is listed in stable condition.
Police would not identify either victim.
Two others who were standing on the corner were unharmed.
Police have not ruled the incident a gang-related shooting, Peavy said.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is expected to assist in the investigation, Peavy said.
