SEASON AT A GLANCE: Fredette has steadily progressed since becoming the Conquistadores’ starting quarterback last season. Fredette personifies El Camino REal’s balanced offense. He has completed 27 of 44 passes for 518 yards and seven touchdowns and he has rushed for 192 yards and scored three times. He also has three interceptions, tying for the lead among City Section players form the region.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: Fredette threw for a career-high 309 yards in a 40-15 victory over Chatsworth, completing 13 of 19 passes with four touchdowns. He also gained 82 yards in 17 carries and another score as the undefeated Conquistadores scored in their first five possessions.
GIRLS
Amanda Armstrong
SCHOOL: Thousand Oaks
YEAR: Junior
SPORT: Cross-country
SEASON AT A GLANCE: After starting the season with a runner-up finish in the junior race of the Seaside Invitational on Sept. 12. Armstrong was slowed for two weeks by an ankle injury that she suffered during the Mt. Carmel Invitational on Sept. 20. She got back on the right track Saturday with a victory in the Channel Islands Invitational at College Park in Oxnard.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: Although Armstrong’s time of 18:51 over the three-mile course was 33 seconds slower than what she ran while winning the Marmonte League title at College Park last year, it gave her a four-second margin of victory over freshman teammate Kelley Hess and an eight-second advantage over Highland sophomore Rachel Guerrero.
