Andy Rea rushed for 192 yards in 20 carries and Whittier La Serna capitalized on six La Habra turnovers in a 24-3 victory over the host Highlanders in a nonleague football game Thursday night.

Although it could not stop Rea, who had one run of 65 yards and a touchdown run of 41, La Habra was hurt worse by the four passes quarterback Robert Morales had intercepted.

The Lancers (3-2) took advantage of La Habra’s errors the entire game. On the Highlanders’ first possession of the game, Josh Herrera fumbled. La Serna recovered and soon after scored on a 19-yard pass from B.J. Johnson to Casey Flanders.

On their next possession, the Highlanders answered with an 18-yard field goal by Ryan Hall. From then on, however, any La Habra drives were ended by turnovers.

After two Morales interceptions in the second quarter, and Rea’s 41-yard touchdown run, La Habra trailed, 14-3. Sam Bonilla’s 43-yard field goal made it 17-3.

The Lancers drove 86 yards on their first possession of the second half, scoring on a one-yard touchdown pass from Johnson to James Smith.

La Habra (2-3) turned the ball over three more times in the second half.
