Campaign Funds
Since when does the giving of unlimited amounts of money to a political party come under the banner of “freedom of speech,” as the American Civil Liberties Union claims (Oct. 8)?
Shouldn’t such giving of millions of dollars to both the Republican and Democratic parties come under the banner of the “denial of true freedom in a democratic government” instead? The denial of true freedom, that is, so that the government can be controlled by the nation’s major corporations and wealthiest individuals?
Come on, ACLU, get real and remember something our forefathers were concerned about, namely: a government of the people, by the people and for the people.
P.S.--You also might remember not to waste 32 cents postage and ask that I renew my long-standing membership in the ACLU.
