Man Arrested for Fraud
An Albertson’s Food and Drug Stores warehouseman has been arrested at his home on criminal insurance fraud charges for allegedly filing a phony workers’ compensation claim.
Mitchell James, 27, was released on $10,000 bail after his arrest Monday on four counts of insurance fraud and one count of filing a false claim.
Deputy Orange County Dist. Atty. Jo Escobar said Wednesday that James received about $10,000 in pay and medical benefits during more than two months that he was off work early this year for a shoulder and collarbone injury.
Albertson’s, though, filmed James coaching a softball team, hitting and throwing without any restrictions. James could not be reached for comment.
