Speed Limit Increases Expected
Drivers will be able to push their gas pedals a little harder on several major streets in the city.
After surveying traffic conditions on major roadways, officials determined that some speed limits could be raised by 5 mph, Paul Grimm, the city’s traffic engineer, said.
The changes include all of Rosecrans Avenue within the city limits, from 40 to 45 mph; Stanton Avenue between La Palma and Artesia Boulevard, from 35 to 40 mph; and Western Avenue from the city’s southern limit to Artesia, from 35 to 40 mph.
The City Council gave tentative approval to the changes earlier this week and is expected to give final approval Nov. 3.
If passed, the new limits would become effective Dec. 3.
