Permit Parking Near High School Extended
A permit parking program has been extended to relieve neighborhood problems residents say are caused by athletic activities at El Dorado High School.
The City Council last month agreed the permit zone on portions of Brookhaven, Swanee and Susquehanna avenues has been effective. Neighbors complained about traffic, vehicles blocking driveways and people disrobing in public.
The council voted to impose the parking restrictions last December, calling for periodic reviews of the program.
Resident Larry Shaw said the permit parking zone has made the area a “regular neighborhood.”
Councilwoman Constance Underhill voted against the parking program, saying she wanted restrictions lifted from the east side of Brookhaven next to the school. Some residents and sports groups requested public parking in that area.
