Thousand Oaks Win Has Fresh Look

The Thousand Oaks High girls’ cross-country team didn’t have top runner Amanda Armstrong at full strength Thursday, but the Lancers still won their fourth consecutive Marmonte League dual-meet title.

Paced by the third- fourth- and fifth-place finishes of freshman Kelly Hess, senior Erin Sorensen and junior Armstrong, Thousand Oaks (7-0, 7-0 in league) defeated Royal, 26-35, and Agoura, 20-41, in a meet at Agoura High.

Thousand Oaks also won the boys’ dual-meet title with a 24-32 victory over Agoura and a 19-43 defeat of Royal. Seth Neumuller of Thousand Oaks (7-0, 7-0) placed first in 16:23.

GIRLS’ TENNIS

Granada Hills 6, Kennedy 1--The Highlanders (9-0, 6-0) coasted in a Northwest Valley Conference match.

Cleveland 4, San Fernando 3--Alma Mazo defeated Dalia Alcazar, 8-4, in 1 hour 42 minutes to give the Cavaliers (5-4, 4-2) a decisive point in a Northwest Valley Conference match. San Fernando is 4-5, 1-5.

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

La Canada d. Temple City, 15-13, 13-15, 15-12, 15-10--Emily Dalbeck had 19 kills and three aces, and the Spartans (11-1, 6-0) claimed their eighth consecutive victory in the Rio Hondo League match.

North Hollywood d. Grant, 15-5, 15-17, 15-12, 15-12--Ashley Fargeon had 16 kills, 11 aces and 15 assists for the Huskies (8-3, 5-3) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference match.

Carpinteria d. La Reina, 15-9, 3-15, 15-5, 14-16, 15-5--Heather Olmstead had 46 kills, 19 digs and four aces while her twin sister Nicole had 23 kills, 19 digs and four aces as the Warriors (11-1, 5-1) avenged their only loss in a Tri-Valley League match. The Regents (12-1, 5-1) downed Carpinteria in four games in a league opener.

L.A. Baptist d. Village Christian, 15-0, 15-9, 15-7--Kristen Jensen had 14 kills for the Knights (10-2, 5-0) in an Alpha League match.

Flintridge Sacred Heart d. Chaminade, 15-3, 15-10, 15-11--Megan Hosp had 17 kills and eight digs to lead the Tologs (9-2, 5-1) to a Mission League road win.

BOYS’ WATER POLO

La Canada 12, South Pasadena 5--The Spartans (17-4, 2-0) defeated the Tigers for the first time since 1987 in a Rio Hondo League game at La Canada.

Buena 22, Oxnard 6--Eric Nisbet and Robert Klamser each scored four goals for the Bulldogs (11-9, 5-1) in a Channel League game.
