2. MORRO BAY (Virg’s Landing)--30 anglers (1 boat): 4 lingcod, 100 red rock cod, 50 rock cod, 300 assorted rockfish, 1 halibut. (Bob’s Sportfishing)--10 anglers (1 boat): 2 lingcod, 30 red rock cod, 10 Pacific snapper, 110 assorted rockfish.
3. AVILA BEACH (Avila Beach Sportfishing)--24 anglers (1 boat): 84 red rock cod, 204 assorted rock cod, 4 lingcod.
4. SANTA BARBARA (Sea Landing)--19 anglers (1 boat): 26 calico bass, 58 sand bass, 10 sculpin, 10 barracuda, 3 sheephead, 1 black sea bass (released). (Hornet Landing)--12 anglers (1 boat): 85 calico bass, 12 sand bass, 2 bonito, 2 sculpin, 6 barracuda, 4 sheephead.
5. VENTURA (Captain Hook’s)--18 anglers (1 boat): 28 rockfish, 8 sculpin, 11 whitefish, 2 yellowtail, 2 lingcod.
6. OXNARD (Cisco’s)--42 anglers (2 boats): 2 yellowtail, 79 calico bass, 1 bonito, 2 whitefish, 3 sculpin, 6 rockfish.
7. PORT HUENEME--40 anglers (3 boats): 9 yellowtail, 71 calico bass, 3 bonito, 5 barracuda, 1 halibut, 12 sand bass, 1 lingcod, 2 sheephead, 6 rockfish, 14 sculpin, 4 whitefish.
8. MARINA DEL REY--53 anglers (3 boats): 5 yellowtail, 1 halibut, 205 sculpin, 12 sand bass, 32 red snapper, 55 rockfish, 4 perch. (In-Seine Sportfishing)--27 anglers (2 boats): 6 halibut, 22 sand bass, 15 calico bass, 12 sculpin, 1 black sea bass (released).
9. REDONDO BEACH--64 anglers (2 boats): 1 yellowtail, 18 sand bass, 170 sculpin, 6 sole, 5 rockfish.
10. SAN PEDRO (L.A. Harbor Sportfishing)--48 anglers (3 boats): 90 yellowtail, 31 bonito, 47 calico bass, 3 sheephead, 2 sand bass. (22nd St. Landing)--68 anglers (4 boats): 2 dorado, 140 yellowfin tuna, 14 yellowtail, 10 calico bass, 4 barracuda, 2 sand bass, 22 bonito, 18 sculpin, 14 whitefish, 31 sheephead, 25 rockfish, 1 opal-eye perch, 14 red rockfish.
11. LONG BEACH--67 anglers (4 boats): 54 yellowtail, 37 calico bass, 1 sand bass, 31 whitefish, 15 sheephead, 6 bonito, 2 sculpin, 37 rockfish. (Belmont Pier)--19 anglers (1 boat): 75 rockfish, 2 sand bass, 1 whitefish, 3 yellowtail, 6 red snapper.
13. NEWPORT BEACH (Newport Landing)--71 anglers (4 boats): 4 yellowfin tuna, 2 skipjack, 14 yellowtail, 149 sculpin, 35 sand bass, 2 calico bass, 1 sheephead, 1 halibut, 10 mackerel. (Davey’s Locker)--151 anglers (6 boats): 59 yellowfin tuna, 15 dorado, 27 skipjack, 1 mako shark, 39 yellowtail, 3 calico bass, 66 sand bass, 3 sculpin, 1 halibut.
14. DANA WHARF--177 anglers (9 boats): 312 yellowfin tuna, 34 dorado, 84 skipjack, 40 yellowtail, 4 bonito, 30 calico bass, 79 sand bass, 2 halibut, 1 sculpin, 1 rockfish, 1 sheephead.
15. OCEANSIDE (Helgren’s)--102 anglers (6 boats): 136 yellowtail, 21 yellowfin, 1 barracuda, 42 calico bass, 100 sand bass, 1 halibut, 2 sculpin, 6 skipjack.

FRESHWATER
17. CASTAIC LAKE--Scott Smith of Newhall, caught seven stripers 9-12 1/2 pounds in four trips with an AC plug from shore in upper lake. Michael Goodenough and Joann Jones of Northridge, five stripers in two trips, largest 14 1/2 pounds, on AC plug. Mike Carpenter of Canyon Country caught 73 largemouths in two trips, largest 4 1/2 pounds, using Wham Fisheze. Greg Hamilton of Castaic, guided by Pat Buckley, caught three-, five-, seven- and 9-pound 4-ounce largemouth bass using crawdads. Eric Olson of Valencia caught 13-pound striper with rattle trap. Also caught a 12 3/4- and an eight-pound striper on his second trip. Allan Cole of Lancaster had three successful trips using AC plugs: 12- and 11-pounders on his first trip and 10-, 13-, 15- and 17-pounders on second trip. Third trip produced a 13-pounder. Greg Lundquist of Sylmar, caught 22 largemouth bass up to 1 1/2 pounds using copper pepper neon, in upper-lake area. Jesse Gonzalez of Sylmar, 1-4 largemouth bass using Zank worms. J.P. McGinley, 9, of Castaic, caught five trout using power bait on upper lake.

18. LAKE PIRU--Bass fishing OK. Largemouth bass coming out on east side of lake between Cow Cove and Dough Flat for anglers using crank baits or night crawlers. Trout biting on Needlefish or Power Bait. Catfish catch has slowed. Best at north end with mackerel. Lots of bluegill in Marina area, taking red worms or meal worms. Crappie biting around Marina as well, mostly on finger jigs. Bob Nettleton of Simi Valley caught and released bass limit on east side using crank baits.

19. PYRAMID LAKE--Smallmouth bass being caught everywhere. Spinner baits, plastic worms and night crawlers working best. Largemouths being caught on reapers, jigs and worms. Striped bass bite starting to ebb but several catches topped six pounds. Kastmasters and live shad working best. Panfish are thick in the Marina area.
20. LAKE CACHUMA--Red-ear perch toward east end behind Arrowhead Island taking night crawlers in 15 feet of water. Bass are moving deeper, 20-30 feet, but hitting jigs and plastic worms. Trollers taking most trout at west end of lake, 7-8 colors, 25-30 feet deep. Needlefish has been the hot lure. Catfish bite has slowed.
21. LAKE CASITAS--Matt Newman, Calabasas, caught three bass, largest 10 pounds, on a Castaic soft shad. Robert Heffernan, Ojai, caught a nine-pounder on BAC lure. Most bass have been taken in the morning near shorelines with surface lures; during day, deeper with AC plugs or bait. Dennis Lessard of Santa Paula caught a 25-pound catfish using mackerel. Enos Choyce of Pasadena had five catfish for a total of 48 pounds, largest weighing 26, on mackerel. Catfish bite has been very good about 40 feet deep. Trout fishing slow.
22. CORONA LAKE--Catfish bite fair, mostly on mackerel in afternoon near tree area. Lots of small fish. Recent stocking of largemouths and hybrid striped bass starting to show in the eight-pound range. Best baits seem to be plastic worms and night crawlers. Hot catfish baits are mackerel, shrimp, night crawlers, marshmallows and meal worms. Hot bass baits are black plastic lizards, worms, spinner baits and top-water lures. Best spots: South trees, launch ramp and dam area.
23. SANTA ANA RIVER LAKES--Lots of catfish on lots of stringers. Lots of small fish, mostly caught with mackerel. Arthur Torres of Whittier, 18.8 pounds on mackerel near the dock. Phil Hildebrandt, Anaheim, five-fish stringer totaling 43.5 pounds on mackerel at Bubble Hole. Best spots are Bubble Hole, spillway, dock areas and Sandy Beach. Hot catfish baits are mackerel, shrimp, night crawlers, marshmallows and meal worms. Top bass catch: Louie Cervantes, Anaheim, 14.3 pounds on plastics near the trees. Stocking of 15,000 pounds of super trout and browns is planned for Nov. 8.
24. IRVINE LAKE--Dave Roosma of San Jose caught and released 36-pound blue catfish in Santiago Flats. Juan Gardinez, Lynwood, limit of catfish in flats using mackerel. His 11-7 blue catfish was winner of Saturday Night Catfish Derby.
25. LAGUNA NIGUEL LAKE--Bass biting in early morning, six-inch dark plastics working best. Night crawlers working during the day. Best bite has been in late afternoon in top water with buzz baits and poppers. Doug Bowman, Santa Ana, 7-4 Castaic bluegill at creek inlet. Catfish biting, in two-five-pound range. Good fishing in the morning and in flats at night. Phun Nguyen, Westminster, double limit with a 17-pounder using mackerel.
26. LAKE SKINNER--Striped bass biting mornings along the inlet and dam line, anchovies and chicken livers best. Largemouth bass near the surface mornings and evenings. Dark-colored plastics working along north and south shores.
27. LAKE PERRIS--Shawn and Jay Edger caught limits of trout in the marina using red Power Bait. Mark Puttle caught an 8-2 largemouth bass using Zara Spook at east end. Richard Franklin, Moreno Valley, 3-8 bass using Castaic soft bait, Zig Zag shad off Point One. Trout action slow.
28. SAN DIEGO CITY LAKES--Hodges has bass, catfish and crappie bites. Many reservoirs closed, or open only for duck hunting.
29. LAKE CUYAMACA--Trout have nearly disappeared and cold water has slowed crappie bite. Best trout spots are lone pine tree, North Finger jetty, 100 yards east of boat dock and the dike. Inflated night crawlers and Power Bait are best baits.
30. BIG BEAR LAKE--Many limits of trout. Heavy concentrations from Metcalf Bay to observatory. Dam area, Boulder Bay and Zebra Room also good for trout. Observatory best for bass. Gray’s Dock and Pleasure Point landing best for catfish. Mary Ann Rainey of Big Bear Lake, 5-7 trout on Power Bait at the Zebra Room from a boat. Mike Dawson, Big Bear Lake, a 15.9-pound catfish on mackerel at Gray’s Dock.
31. BISHOP--Fishing good at all Bishop Creek Canyon areas. Worms, green or rainbow Power Bait and Woolly Buggers working from shore or boat. Bite picked up at South Lake. Trollers using Woolly Buggers, Rapalas or red dot Needlefish are picking up limits. Salmon eggs also working on North and South Lakes. Fishing great at Big Pine areas, Power Baits, worms and night crawlers all working. Great fishing with some large fish and lots of limits at Rock Creek Canyon areas. Crowley Lake yielding perch at north end. Alpers trout biting on Convict Lake.

LOS ANGELES COUNTY--Echo Park Lake, El Dorado Park Lake, Legg Lake, Peck Road Park Lake, Puddingstone Lake, Santa Fe Reservoir, Willowbrook Lake. SAN BERNARDINO--Big Bear Lake, Green Valley Lake, Mojave Narrows Park Lake. RIVERSIDE--Lake Hemet. SAN DIEGO--Doane Pond.
