Insurance
Recently I received my six-month premium renewal for auto insurance. This was the first time when it was supposed to be based on factors other than my ZIP code (90026). I certainly received a surprise when the premium went up 51%! There are no changes in my driving record, no tickets, at-fault accidents, claims, nothing.
The insurance company gives me a mumbled response on the final implementation of Prop. 103, but nothing factual. My agent does not have an answer either.
The earthquake insurance that Insurance Commissioner Chuck Quackenbush put together costs more and provides a great deal less coverage. I have to wonder how much longer we can afford to have the representative of the insurance industry as our elected representative. Read the Oct. 20 issue of Forbes Magazine and you will get a good idea of what he doesn’t know and when didn’t he know it.
