Rio Vista May Adopt Year-Round Schedule
Rio Vista Elementary School may resort to a backup plan and adopt a year-round schedule to help relieve overcrowded conditions, officials said.
The school has scrapped a plan to build a satellite campus on the McFadden Park playground because of City Council concerns. The campus would have housed Rio Vista’s kindergarten, first- and second-grade students.
Council members said they did not want to give up part of the park’s playground area to accommodate portable classrooms, City Administrator Robert D’Amato said.
At their meeting tonight, trustees of Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District, which includes Rio Vista, will discuss other options for the school, including a year-round calendar, Assistant Supt. Kim Stallings said.
The trustees will meet at 7 p.m. in the Education Services Center, 4999 Casa Loma Ave., Yorba Linda.
