Guns at Airport
* Re “LAX Incident Raises Debate on Security” (Sept. 9), I want to make sure I have this straight. Airport police stopped a passenger traveling to Minnesota when they discovered his carry-on luggage contained: a shotgun; a 9-mm semiautomatic assault pistol; ammunition for both; knives; handcuffs; a counterfeit police badge and a ski mask. Airport police then let him go without charges because the guns weren’t loaded, even though he was traveling with the ammunition in the same bag.
My question is: What exactly does one have to do to be arrested at LAX? I’ll make sure to ask next time I get a jaywalking ticket while trying to get to my terminal.
