Free Day at Landfill Planned for Residents

Simi Valley residents can trash those piles of rubbish gathering cobwebs in the garage and recycle those stacks of junk wood for free Sunday at the Simi Valley Landfill and Recycling Center.

All the garbage, concrete, appliances and asphalt you have been meaning to dispose of can be dropped off between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Recyclables such as clean wood and garden trimmings will also be accepted at the landfill, 2801 Madera Road.

Residents are asked to separate their trash from recyclables so reusable materials don’t wind up in the landfill. They are also asked to keep their loads covered so none of the trash ends up on city streets.

The event is for residents and nonprofit organizations only. No commercial or hazardous waste will be accepted.

Participants must show proof of Simi Valley residency, such as a valid driver’s license, and must unload their own rubbish. For information, call the landfill at 579-7267.
