Moorpark 28, Simi Valley 14--The Musketeers held Simi Valley to 160 yards, including six in the first half, and sacked Pioneers’ quarterback Tim Bird four times and reserve quarterback Bryan Zumo once at Simi Valley.
Shane Brogdon broke a scoreless tie late in the second half on a three-yard run for Moorpark (1-1). The Musketeers made it 14-0 on Kevin Sedik’s 77-yard fumble return with 4:30 left in the third quarter.
The Pioneers (0-2) scored with three minutes remaining on Walter Williams’ 14-yard run.
Moorpark’s Chad Willis was 13 of 26 for 103 yards and two touchdowns. Josh Verdugo carried 11 times for 51 yards for the Pioneers.
