Tom Petruno’s “The Right Way to Pay for Financial Advice May Not Be the Obvious One” [Market Beat, Sept. 14] talks of three ways to pay for financial advice: upfront load, flat fee or percent of assets handled.

A method which I favor, probably not available, would be a shared deal in which the “pay” consists of a percentage of the profits or losses. This would really provide an incentive for the advisor to perform.
