Northrup Is Winner of Speedway’s Main Event

Andy Northrup of Ontario won the four-lap scratch main event in front of 5,320 in the weekly speedway motorcycle program Saturday at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa.

Shawn McConnell of Brea was second, Bart Bast of Auburn third and Brad Oxley of San Juan Capistrano fourth.

McConnell won the eight-lap handicap main event. Mike Faria of Apple Valley was second, Bast third, Oxley fourth and Ed Castro of Ojai fifth.
