Stein Passes Long Beach Past Fullerton

Former Los Alamitos quarterback Sean Stein threw for 395 yards and five touchdowns to lead Long Beach to a 50-13 victory over Fullerton Saturday night at Fullerton College.

Stein, who completed 23 of 43 passes with two interceptions, broke a 7-7 tie when he hit Jonathan Pittman on a 69-yard scoring pass with 54 seconds remaining in the first half.

Pittman caught his third and fourth touchdown passes of the game in the second half as Long Beach (2-0) built a 30-13 lead after three quarters.

In other Mission Conference games:

Cerritos 31, Golden West 7--Golden West turned the ball over three times on its first six plays, leading to an early 17-0 lead for host Cerritos.

Heshimu Robertson’s 77-yard interception return gave Cerritos (2-0) a 10-0 lead, and Quion Austin followed with the first of his three touchdown runs.

John Frank connected with Justin Miller on a 13-yard touchdown pass late in the first half to cut the lead to 24-17. Golden West falls to 0-2.

Mt. San Antonio 20, Santa Ana 10--Mt. San Antonio’s Eric Shine, a graduate of Savanna High, rushed for 124 yards, including scoring runs of 62 and two yards.

Santa Ana’s Byron Schley rushed for 90 yards in 10 carries. Schley had on a 46-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

Anosith Wilaikul kicked a 44-yard field goal for Santa Ana (0-1).

Pasadena 31, Orange Coast 0--The Pirates continue to look for their first points of the year after the loss at home.

L.J. Martin’s 30-yard touchdown reception from Casey Preston helped Pasadena to a 10-0 lead at the half. Preston had replaced ineffective starter David Guerra, who came into the game leading the conference in passing.

Adolph Esqueda added two touchdown runs in the second half for Pasadena (2-0), and Damon Whitehurst returned an interception 45 yards for another score.

Chad Collins completed 12 of 23 passes for 157 yards and two interceptions, and Ivan Mercer caught five passes for 91 yards to lead Orange Coast (0-2).
