Plan for Recreation Complex to Be Heard

A proposal to build an 18-acre recreation complex--including four athletic fields, roller hockey courts, skateboard areas, a gymnasium and a community center--next to Laguna Hills High School will be presented tonight to the Saddleback Valley Unified School District board.

Trustees will hear how the plan was developed and what needs it would meet.

The project will be up for approval at a school board meeting next month, according to trustee Don Sedgwick.

A committee of city staff, City Council members, school district officials and members of the public was formed last year to develop the plan. Most of the site is owned by the city, which is expected to pay for construction.

Mayor L. Allan Songstad Jr. said the council on Oct. 14 will consider an agreement with the school district on use of the complex.
