Re “Richard Scaife: A ‘Savior’ of Right, a Scourge of Left,” April 17:

It’s about time that The Times starts to take a look into who is funding the anti-Clinton nuts’ sordid campaigns. Without funding from eccentric billionaires such as Richard Mellon Scaife, even Newt Gingrich admits that modern conservatism wouldn’t be what it is today.

The media should continue looking into who is bankrolling the anti-Clinton forces, and expose their real agenda to the light of public exposure. Once it is apparent that the moving forces behind these right-wing zealots are people like Scaife--who have never faced the challenges of making a living or providing for their families in a country growing intolerant of working people’s rights--perhaps the public will realize that it’s not just Bill Clinton these extremists are after: It’s all of us lowly middle-class workers. As investigative articles such as this are written, those who mocked Hillary Clinton’s observation about a vast right-wing conspiracy will continue to eat crow.
