MEXICO : 3 Police Officers Killed in Shootout
Three Mexico City police officers were killed and two others wounded in a shootout with gunmen caught dumping two bodies in a posh suburb, officials said. Police on patrol early Sunday saw a group of men in two vehicles dumping two body bags on the side of a road in the exclusive Fuentes de Pedregal neighborhood, police said. When the officers went to investigate, they were met with a hail of bullets from AK-47 rifles and submachine guns. Witnesses said the police were hopelessly outgunned by the men, who fled in their vehicles apparently unharmed. “The police guns sounded like toy guns next to what those men were firing,” neighbor Alba de Garcia told reporters. Police found at least 130 rounds of ammunition on the ground where the shootout took place.
